Visual identity Interporto of Abruzzo | Project
We chose to identify the Interporto of Abruzzo with a font with characters which are confident, very readable, clear and with a strong personality. Our research started out by experimenting with the idea of deepening and exploring the possibility of using a "stencil". After analyzing the history and uses of these characters we created a decidedly typographical visual identity.
We chose to use the the "DIN (Deutsches Institut für Normung) character, created by the German Institute for Industrial Standards in 1936 as a model for technology and transport. This character was chosen because it had the perfect features of legibility and reproducibility we were looking for. By overlapping the character matrix(the silhouette of the "O"), we obtained a curved element which we used to create the stencil version of DIN 1451.
For the design of the icon which would be associated with the logo we were creating, we tried to synthesize the concepts of dynamism, circulation and movement, using graphics derived from the logotype.
Our idea was to use the icon to symbolise the genuine strength of communication by exaggerating its purely typographical form, and even though the icon is represented in an abstract form, it is still recognizable as the logo of the original matrix.
The colours used in the logo, used in the complete range of office supplies, are white, green and blue - the three colours which make up the crest of the Abruzzo region.
